WVU Mountaineer campThere is no reason that the good times have to end when you leave Morgantown as the West Virginia Alumni Association makes it easier to ensure you can carry on all your favorite Mountaineer traditions long after you graduate. In fact, it seems that the Alumni Association has created a new tradition of its own with the exciting new WVU Mountaineer Camp.
 
The WVU Alumni Association has partnered with Snowshoe Ski Resort to hold two distinct styles of camps this summer, both of which are packed full of a huge array of outdoor activities and are sure to provide ample opportunities for singing ‘Country Roads’ along with your fellow Mountaineer alumni. These camps are a unique chance for alumni to reconnect with friends and former classmates, while enjoying the fantastic amenities of one of West Virginia’s top ski resorts and summer destinations.

Snowshoe Ski Resort

WVU Mountaineer CampLocated in Snowshoe WV, Snowshoe Ski Resort isnÂ’t just for skiing as anyone who attends one of the WVU Mountaineer Camps will immediately realize. The mountains around Snowshoe West Virginia offer a beautiful, tranquil setting and absolutely endless possibilities for outdoor adventures. The resort itself is also home to fantastic restaurants, a world-class spa, fantastic golfing and a huge range of other modern amenities.

WVU Mountaineer Summer Camps in Snowshoe WV

This summer the WVU Alumni Association is offering two different camps geared towards different alumni audiences. As the name suggests, the WVU Mountaineer Family Camp is designed for alumni and their families and offers a variety of activities for the kids, the parents and the whole family. On the other hand, the WVU Mountaineer Adventure Camp is geared more towards a younger audience of more recent graduates and is more focused on action, adventure and adrenaline.

What You Need to Know About WVU Mountaineer Family Camp

Snowshoe West Virginia will be the site of two different WVU Mountaineer Family Camps, both of which offer seven action-packed days of family fun and adventure. The first camp is held from July 2 – 9, while the second session runs from August 6 – 13. Both camps are all-inclusive and limited to a total of 80 families.

WVU Mountaineer CampAlumni and their families will be staying in Center Village, right in the heart of the mountaintop resort and surrounded by numerous opportunities for shopping, dining, drinking and dancing. Families are free to design each day however they please, choosing from a huge number of available activities.

Start the day off with a delicious, hearty breakfast buffet before heading off to enjoy some of the area’s spectacular hiking or mountain biking trails. From there, ride the chairlift down to picturesque Shavers Lake, where you’ll disembark on a beach full of fun activities and games to test your skills. At night, the lakeside bonfire makes an ideal spot to roast a few s’mores before heading back to watch the nighttime movie under the stars.

Family yoga classes, children’s GeoCache treasure hunts, adult RZR trail riding and a family golf tournament are just a few of the many other highlights. You and the kids can test yourself on the climbing wall or Eurobungie or brush up on your cooking skills during the Mountaineer Chef Class and Family Cook Off.

WVU Mountaineer CampAll these activities are sure to make you hungry, but luckily you’ll be served three fabulous, filling meals a day. The kids are sure to love the lunchtime sundae bar, while everyone will fall in the love with the world-class BBQ ribs served at dinner. As an added bonus, you and your spouse can take advantage of the resort’s babysitter service to enjoy a romantic cuddle under the stars.

A World of Excitement Awaits at WVU Mountaineer Adventure Camp

From July 13 to 16, up to 300 WVU alumni will converge on Snowshoe for the Mountaineer Adventure Camp. This promises to be four of the wildest, most action-packed days of your life.

Mountain biking classes, hiking, off-road riding and plenty of food and drink are just a few of the many things participants can look forward to. After enjoying breakfast with your long-lost friends, you can head over to the lake to try your hand at stand-up paddleboard yoga or hit up the links for a quick 18 holes.

Breakfast is provided every morning, while you’ll have the opportunity to enjoy chef-prepared lunches and dinners at some of the resort’s outstanding restaurants. Try your hand at shooting sporting clays before heading over to the afternoon craft-beer happy hour. In the evening, trade stories and take turns buying rounds as you and your friends listen to the stylings of the WVU Bluegrass Band and other WVU musical ensembles.

The sheer number of activities on offer in and around the resort makes Snowshoe WV a blast no matter when you visit. However, the chance to enjoy all of these amenities alongside your friends, family and fellow Mountaineer alumni is sure to make the event that much more memorable.
