Functional living/dining/kitchen room area, which is hard to find in Mountain Lodge. Also a perfect view of the Ballhooter lift!
Great location to ball hooter lift. WiFi doesn’t really work but you can just hop on other rooms as well. Easily sleeps 4 people, bigger than the pictures look! I would recommend getting some groceries to store in the fridge and cook some because the places in the village usually have long waits and don’t stay open super late. Great place to stay for snowboarding / skiing
I'll start with the positives: Pictures are accurate, living room furniture is comfortable and clean, kitchen is well stocked with everything you need to cook, ice trays were plentiful and full and it was relatively quiet during our stay. Now for the not so positive: When I booked a month in advance I made it known that I was traveling with a service animal, however, less than a week before we were to arrive I received an email stating not to book their condo because they are "highly allergic" to dogs, upon further correspondence I was told that they had a bad experience with previous renters whom left their service animal unattended and the dog barked and disturbed the neighbors. I assured the owners that would not be the case with us as my SA goes where I go, as they are supposed to. The next issue, no working internet in the unit. That was a huge issue for me as I brought my laptop to be able to work while my husband skied. The unit was hot even with the window open and the heat turned off and the ceiling fan in the living room did not work. The bed was hard and uncomfortable, BUT the couch was comfy. There is absolutely no reason why house keeping can not make the bed, blaming it on "the pandemic" is ridiculous.
Great location. The building is dated, but you’re not going to spend much time looking at it if you’re there for the outdoor activities anyway. Would have appreciated a good cleaning job and WiFi that worked. The front desk is very accommodating, so if you stay there and WiFi doesn’t work, check with front desk staff. Robert did a good job communicating about the stay.
Location was better than average. Value was equivalent to what other options are in this general location.
The main draw of this airbnb is definitely the location. This apartment is located on the 3rd floor and right next to multiple staircases that lead closer to the parking lot or out next to the Ballhooter lift. Pros: - Location location location: If you get out at 9 am, you get fresh powder and easy access to the Blacks on the Soaring Eagle side. If it gets too crowded, just drive over to Silver Creek for fresh snow! - Waffle Cabin is right next to you - Full kitchen with dish washer - Great bathroom - loved the bathtub and nice mirror - Free parking is great - when you have to check out the last day, just drive up to the Top of the World and park in the lot and hop onto the Soaring Eagle lift if you want more time Tips to optimize your visit: - When you arrive, just go through the Mountain Lodge parking. The parking attendant has your name and will give you your parking pass. Then you can park in the lot there or drive closer to the main entrance and get a trolley cart if you need to carry your stuff in - Bring earplugs if you are sensitive to noise, especially if you plan on using the sleeper sofa in the living. If someone is living next door, you hear the kids and parents. If you are trying to sleep in the bedroom, you will hear the loud idiot walking right outside - The Balcony door does crack open if you need to let some air in. We arrived the first day when it was 17 C (60F). Bedroom was very hot. Thankfully it cooled down the reminder of our trip. - Bring coffee filters if you need it AND some liquid dish detergent because you never know how well washed the pots and pans were - FYI - there are public restrooms in the basement level of Mountain Lodge - Our wifi for the apartment didn't work when we were there. But you can hop onto another person's wifi easily by just changing the last 3 digits on the password.
We will be back for sure
Great location! Looked out the window and the slopes were right there. Made everything so convenient
Have rented with this owner several times before. Very good value and never any problems.
Excellent location within steps to the mountain. Super cozy and clean. I plan on coming back to snowshoe in a few weeks and hope that this stay is available to rent again!
Everything was perfect. Would certainly stay here again.
Our family met here for the closing bike weekend!! we had such a great time! rode the lifts, hiked and of course downhill biked! we brought most of our own food to enjoy relaxing evenings. the lodging was great!!!! our condo had everything we needed.
Everything we needed for a quick last-minute trip to snowshoe. Perfect location right at the top of Ballhooter lift, and very easy walk to anything in snowshoe village.
Awesome location for easy skiing with a homey room, couldn’t have asked for a better place to rent
The place was cozy, warm, and in convenient location. The instructions were clear and there is the front desk if you have questions. We enjoyed the stay and definitely would come back. Thanks to Chris for comprehensive communication and instructions!
Truly ski in, ski out and perfect proximity to the village.
Thank you so much for letting us stay at your place! It was very clean and spacious. We hope to stay there again soon!
Clean and comfortable room at a reasonable price.
This place is the perfect location, at the top of ballhooter lift. Has a comfy bed, pots and pans and a coffee pot. They even provide a box fan. Perfect for skiing all day and resting in the evening. Within walking distance to the restaurant's and coffee shop.
Fantastic 1 bed/bath right on the slopes. Clean and convenient. Served me and 2 buddies very well. Thank you Chris
Awesome location and clean! Kitchen had everything necessary for cooking meals and the view from the deck couldn’t be beat!
Great place! Super clean and very comfortable.
Great location and updated condo!
Great place to stay with an awesome view!
Critical to a great stay is proximity to your activity and the fit of the amenities to your needs while there. The condo at the lodge did have a perfect location for being on the Snowshoe Mountain which allowed ideal access to the Village while containing everything we needed to be self contained at the condo if desired. Certainly would stay there again. Thanks.
Nice and clean. Hot water wasn't turned on, but once it was all was good.
Nice and cozy little unit, great location to ski lifts. Owner really nice and responsive. Offered us an opportunity to stay one extra night which helped tremendously to have a night of rest before our return trip.
The condo is in a great location. Slope side and in the village area. Pool complex is right next door, parking was vey convenient. Everything was clean and in working order. The bed was comfortable. There was plenty of hot water and we didn’t need to turn on the heat at all. The unit stayed nice and warm throughout our stay. Nice view from the porch, but couldn’t really go out there due to snow piled up. Would be good to have a small shovel to clear it off. There is no onsite restaurant anymore. It moved to the village area and we wouldn’t recommend it. Other restaurants in the village were pretty good but resort prices make bringing food from home and cooking in the condo a plus. There’s not a lot of counter space but full size refrigerator, stove and microwave were a big plus for us. Owners provided excellent communication and guidance. Check in was a snap. We will stay with them again.
Mountain Lodge is a Great location and this Condo #328 was especially convenient; nice amenities including large flat screen TV in Family Room and smaller set in bedroom with good sized kitchen table; no crock pot and kitchen utensils/pots&pans were pretty minimalist but we made it work; nice microwave but could use at least one lounge chair in the family room beyond the three person sofa ...the site pictures show one but this chair was missing in actuality.....the existing configuration worked fine for two adults and possibly would work for a small family with young kids ok but I suspect 4 adults would feel very cramped; the ski closet needs to be cleared out to make more room for skis and related equipment since that is the only place they allow skis to be stored per their instructions...I had to move a 40 pound air conditioning unit out of the ski closet into a spare bedroom closet to make room for anything in there and one of the bedroom closets had a lot of wasted space due to carpet remnants and other junk just left in there...in such a small unit every piece of space counts so the extraneous stuff should be removed from the closets; bed was comfortable but view down the mountain was very limited....the view of Ballhooter lift exit ramp was exceptional and made it easy for people to reconnect if one person wanted to make a few extra runs while the other waited inside in the warmth; Mountain Lodge check-in and out service was very efficient as was parking process...if you forget just about anything (like a hair dryer for example) they can rent you something from the front desk for next to no cost or just a deposit...they even provided us a brand new extra heater for no charge even though we made no request for one just to ensure we were warm on an extremely cold night!...but the built-in heat on the this third floor condo was more then adequate by itself. Information provided prior to the trip was outstanding for the most part but lacked any mention of how to score the best lift ticket deals...we found the web advance purchase option direct from Snowshoe offered the most economical price and allowed us to pick up the tickets next store to this condo at Allegheny Springs resort...very convenient...72 hour advance purchase required using this option however. Would stay here again but might look for a unit with a little better view of the mountain...the morning sunrises lighting up the slopes with an orange hue are incredible at Snowshoe.
I had to travel to West Virginia to attend a funeral in a small town about 1/2 hour away from Snowshoe. I was thankful to book Chris's condo on short notice for my two night stay. The unit is on the top floor of a huge complex (Mountain Lodge). The unit was exactly as described and is in a well maintained building. Everything was clean and the bed was comfortable. Snowshoe was just gearing up for ski season so there weren't many guests there yet but this condo is a great place to stay for skiers and non-skiers alike. Snowshoe offers lots of summer activities as well. Located in a beautiful part of West Virginia.
Great place! Ski in/out right to the slopes. About a minute walk to restaurants, tavern, shops...etc. Perfect for what we needed! Beautiful view of the mountains and room was equipped with all necessities for cooking. We had a great experience.
We had a really fun time at Snowshoe! The slope & village access from the condo was great! Just steps away. The lodge was good for our last minute ski trip.
Chris' place was clean, cozy, and in the perfect location, just steps away from the village. We really enjoyed our summer stay!
My 3 friends and I stayed here for our spring break and honestly could not have had a better time! The room was exactly what we needed for an affordable fun vacation. We cooked all our meals in the room without any problems and had easy access to the slopes, village, and even pool/hot tub across the road (for free!). The room was a little warm but nothing that a cracked window couldn't fix. Wifi was spotty but offered us the chance to disconnect and really relax. Was never an issue when we needed to send some emails or texts. Overall, would definitely recommend!
Great location! Balcony overlooks the slots and the lift is right outside the building. Very short walk to the village. Loved the place, my only complaint is that it is a bit dated, but the price makes up for that! Would highly recommend!
I had a wonderful time at Chris and Alison's place in Snowshoe. The accommodations were perfect. Ski in ski out, everything just as advertised. No need to drive. You'll be close to the village, within walking distance of shops, coffee, food and the Ballhooter speed lift. Snowshoe shuttle can take care of the rest. One note: if you arrive early, make plans to ski or hang out in the village as check in time is quite late (5PM) and they will not allow you to park your car in the lodge lot. This was my last ski trip of the season, short and sweet; but just what the doctor ordered. Already dreaming of next year Will definitely be back for more.
We had such a great weekend in Snowshoe! My husband and I drove in Saturday morning and went skiing until check in. At 4:30 we drove into Mountain Lodge and scored great parking. Check in was a breeze and the front host was so helpful with detailed instructions on how to get to our room. We used the baggage cart to bring up our stuff, plenty of them were available. Our room was so cozy and cute!! We were amazed with how close we were to the ski lift and the view was awesome! It was pretty exciting to see all the action going on after the slopes were closed...snowmobiles and trail groomers. The sunset was pretty to watch as we warmed up before heading out to Silver creek. It was a quick walk to the village where we caught the bus to go night skiing. We prepped a lasagna before our trip so we popped that in the oven once we got back. It cooked perfectly and we loved having a home cooked meal. It made us feel more at home in the condo! Everything else was very comfortable... bathroom/shower , bed, neighbors. We have no complaints and didn't experience any disturbances. It was awesome to get right onto the lift in the morning. The exit from the lodge leads right to a great trail! We came back at check out and went right back out through the lodge to ski some more. I even enjoyed some Starbucks(also a very short walk from the lodge) from the lobby overseeing the slopes from a large window. Everyone was so nice! Even just staying one night, we had a lot of time. Hopefully we'll book in advance for the future and stay longer, but thankful for the experience! Thank you Chris and Alison for letting us enjoy your awesome condo! We'd love to come back again! -Joyce & Gabe
Awesome experience at the condo and at Snowshoe in general! The condo was exactly as described and perfect for a ski trip with friends! Stayed the weekend and skied 3 days. The location at top of Ballhooter couldn't be better! Right by all the restaurants, shops and lifts. The condo itself had everything basic you could ask for, and if you needed anything else, the room service was speedy to get it to you. Check in and check out was a breeze, even a midnight when I arrived. Would definitely come back and stay here again. Thanks for having such a great place Chris!
The listing description was right on. Pictures were exactly as the condo is. Being right on the slopes was awesome. Super convenient to walk out the door and be on the slopes. We've never stayed slope-side before and will ALWAYS do so from now on. Condo was clean and well appointed but really warm. Listing description says it tends to be warm and suggested to open the door to cool it off which is what we did. We didn't run the heat at all during our stay and it was 20 degrees outside. The fan found in the master closet was an unexpected bonus for cooling bedroom down and blocking out noise! Condo had everything we needed. Will definitely stay again if we make it back to Snowshoe. Thank you Chris for the great rate on your condo. You provided our family with many fantastic memories.
Location is great, literally ski out! We've been going to snowshoe for years, but first time staying in mountain lodge, little older but comfortable. Make sure you get locker rental at check in, because they are first come first serve... And we never managed to time it right.
Our stay at Chris' condo in Snowshoe was great. It was a truly ski in & out building. Everything was so cleaned and we were even able to check in at 3pm 🙂 "Helpful Hints" list provided was very helpful; we had a hard time signing in to the wifi but I think it was our provider, the front desk had a 1800 number we called and everything worked with their help. Will definitely stay here again!!
My boyfriend and I had an amazing time in Snowshoe! The condo was nice and clean, also the perfect size for two people and we really loved how we were able to see the the chairlift from our window. The pictures are very accurate to what the condo looks like, and the location is perfect. The only thing that I would complain about is the WiFi. There is no service anywhere in Snowshoe, and the WiFi was very hard to maintain a connection with. Regardless, we will definitely be back!!
