Snowshoe – The Perfect Spot for Camp Wildcat!

Situated in the heart of Snowshoe WV, Camp Wildcat is a children’s day camp program that runs every Thursday to Sunday until August 20. Children can either sign up to take part in a single-day program or a three-day package. The day camp is open to all children age 4 to 15, and when you sign up one child, any siblings that take part will receive special discounted rates. Even better, Camp Wildcat is entirely free for any children of current Snowshoe Lodging guests.

The experienced camp guides accompany the children throughout the day to ensure a safe and entertaining environment with a focus learning, creativity and adventure. Depending on their age, children will be able to enjoy a wide range of fun and exciting activities, including nature hikes, swimming, canoeing, mountain biking and arts and crafts.
 
What’s in Store at Camp Wildcat? Camp Wildcat is split up into three separate age groups to ensure children can enjoy spending time with their peers and take part in age-appropriate activities.

Four to Six Year Olds.

The program for the younger kids is all about inspiring them to take an interest in nature and become more self-reliant. The Eurobungy and rock wall climbing activities allow the kids to push themselves in a safe, encouraging environment. A guide will lead the young ones on an educational nature hike that ends at the lake for an afternoon of swimming and lakeside games.

The slightly older children get to take part in more adventure-based activities. Archery and horseback riding are sure to be a hit, and kids can also look forward to the excitement of downhill mountain biking, hiking and swimming in the lake.

Twelve to Fifteen Year Olds.

The schedule for the teenagers offers even more excitement and adventure. In addition to horseback riding, swimming and mountain biking, kids in this group can also take advantage of Segway and RZR tours, sporting clay shooting and stand-up paddleboard clinics amongst many other activities.

WVU Mountaineer campThere is no reason that the good times have to end when you leave Morgantown as the West Virginia Alumni Association makes it easier to ensure you can carry on all your favorite Mountaineer traditions long after you graduate. In fact, it seems that the Alumni Association has created a new tradition of its own with the exciting new WVU Mountaineer Camp.
 
The WVU Alumni Association has partnered with Snowshoe Ski Resort to hold two distinct styles of camps this summer, both of which are packed full of a huge array of outdoor activities and are sure to provide ample opportunities for singing ‘Country Roads’ along with your fellow Mountaineer alumni. These camps are a unique chance for alumni to reconnect with friends and former classmates, while enjoying the fantastic amenities of one of West Virginia’s top ski resorts and summer destinations.

WVU Mountaineer CampLocated in Snowshoe WV, Snowshoe Ski Resort isn’t just for skiing as anyone who attends one of the WVU Mountaineer Camps will immediately realize. The mountains around Snowshoe West Virginia offer a beautiful, tranquil setting and absolutely endless possibilities for outdoor adventures. The resort itself is also home to fantastic restaurants, a world-class spa, fantastic golfing and a huge range of other modern amenities.

WVU Mountaineer Summer Camps in Snowshoe WV

This summer the WVU Alumni Association is offering two different camps geared towards different alumni audiences. As the name suggests, the WVU Mountaineer Family Camp is designed for alumni and their families and offers a variety of activities for the kids, the parents and the whole family. On the other hand, the WVU Mountaineer Adventure Camp is geared more towards a younger audience of more recent graduates and is more focused on action, adventure and adrenaline.

What You Need to Know About WVU Mountaineer Family Camp

Snowshoe West Virginia will be the site of two different WVU Mountaineer Family Camps, both of which offer seven action-packed days of family fun and adventure. The first camp is held from July 2 – 9, while the second session runs from August 6 – 13. Both camps are all-inclusive and limited to a total of 80 families.

WVU Mountaineer CampAlumni and their families will be staying in Center Village, right in the heart of the mountaintop resort and surrounded by numerous opportunities for shopping, dining, drinking and dancing. Families are free to design each day however they please, choosing from a huge number of available activities.

Start the day off with a delicious, hearty breakfast buffet before heading off to enjoy some of the area’s spectacular hiking or mountain biking trails. From there, ride the chairlift down to picturesque Shavers Lake, where you’ll disembark on a beach full of fun activities and games to test your skills. At night, the lakeside bonfire makes an ideal spot to roast a few s’mores before heading back to watch the nighttime movie under the stars.

Family yoga classes, children’s GeoCache treasure hunts, adult RZR trail riding and a family golf tournament are just a few of the many other highlights. You and the kids can test yourself on the climbing wall or Eurobungie or brush up on your cooking skills during the Mountaineer Chef Class and Family Cook Off.

WVU Mountaineer CampAll these activities are sure to make you hungry, but luckily you’ll be served three fabulous, filling meals a day. The kids are sure to love the lunchtime sundae bar, while everyone will fall in the love with the world-class BBQ ribs served at dinner. As an added bonus, you and your spouse can take advantage of the resort’s babysitter service to enjoy a romantic cuddle under the stars.

A World of Excitement Awaits at WVU Mountaineer Adventure Camp

From July 13 to 16, up to 300 WVU alumni will converge on Snowshoe for the Mountaineer Adventure Camp. This promises to be four of the wildest, most action-packed days of your life.

Mountain biking classes, hiking, off-road riding and plenty of food and drink are just a few of the many things participants can look forward to. After enjoying breakfast with your long-lost friends, you can head over to the lake to try your hand at stand-up paddleboard yoga or hit up the links for a quick 18 holes.

Breakfast is provided every morning, while you’ll have the opportunity to enjoy chef-prepared lunches and dinners at some of the resort’s outstanding restaurants. Try your hand at shooting sporting clays before heading over to the afternoon craft-beer happy hour. In the evening, trade stories and take turns buying rounds as you and your friends listen to the stylings of the WVU Bluegrass Band and other WVU musical ensembles.

Ski Camp For Women Returns To Snowshoe WV

Snowshoe WV Ski CampThe 3rd annual Head Women’s Ski Camp at Snowshoe Mountain, WV takes place on January 27-29, 2017. All skill levels, from beginner skiers to experienced veterans can to attend.

Ski camp packages start at $229 for season pass holders. This price includes skiing instruction from two-time Olympic medalist Diann Roff. The package also includes breakfast and lunch on both days, as well as yoga instruction.

The event kicks off on Friday January 27 with a cocktail party at The Connection. Both Saturday and Sunday mornings kick off with check-in and coffee and bagels. Campers will then warm up with stretching and yoga before breaking off into groups.

Snowshoe Wv SKi CampImmediately following the morning skiing sessions, a luncheon will be served at the Big Top. After lunch is served, the skiing and coaching resumes. Following the afternoon skiing session on Saturday, campers can get chair massages to cool down and soothe sore muscles. This leads into dinner and hors d’oeuvres at The Comedy Cellar (basement of Mountain Lodge).

Campers will responsible for their own skiing equipment. Arrangements should be made for rental before the ski camp begins. It is also recommended that campers dress in layers with a waterproof outer shell. Helmets are also required for skiing in the terrain park.

All campers are required to sign a waiver before participating. The camp will proceed in all weather conditions, unless the mountain is closed down to inclement weather conditions. Any cancellation that is made within 7 days of the camp start date will cause a forfeiture of payment to occur.

Lodging for the ski camp should be arranged well in advance of the camp start date. It is peak season at Snowshoe and lodging fills up quickly on the weekend. Campers will meet at The Big Top for check in on the main level in the Shavers Center. Friday night cocktails will be served at the Connection which is located on the top floor of the Shavers Center. The Saturday evening social will take place at Pastas Lounge which is on the bottom level of the Mountain Lodge. Paid parking is available at all of these locations. Snowshoe WV is the perfect place to begin your riding expedition regardless of whether you have ever walked up the terrain or you only see it on TV during Winter X- Games. This is an all female thing led by amazing experienced Snowshoe Coaches. The event also features a special guest coach from Burton.

You will have two days of nothing but pure friendship, fun and skilled coaching designed to fit your snowboarding goals and capabilities. If you have been longing for girl time on and off the snow, then this event is it.

What Should You Bring?

Burton Women's Camp

Attire- You will dress in layers. The outer layer should be waterproof. In addition, bring a neck up, waterproof gloves, goggles, mittens and hat.

Equipment- Since the package does not include Snowboard gear, you will come with your own bindings, boots, snowboard and other attire appropriate for snow.

Helmet- This is for people who plan to use the terrain park. Additionally, if you plan to try any park features, you need a helmet.

Other Useful Information

Other than equipment and attire, there are other useful details which attendees should be aware of:

Lodging- This fills to capacity hence you need to secure well in advance. CLICK HERE to book a condo.

Waivers- Each participant is expected to sign for a waiver. Parents will sign for participants who are eighteen and below.

Cancellation Policy- Any cancellation made within seventy two hours of arrival will not be paid.

Weather Conditions- Unless the mountain is closed to all guests due to weather, we ride regardless and the camp will proceed as scheduled.

Meeting points- There are several meeting points located in different spots.

Transportation- Since there is no parking at the locations, there is shuttle transport available from designated locations.
